High-Quality Lightning Protection Systems

Lightning can cause extensive damage to a property, particularly with high structures. With more than 100 lightning flashes and 2,000 storms occurring across the world every second, it is vital that your property is protected from potential weather damage.

At Wiltshire Steeplejacks, our engineers can design and install a tailor made conduction system to remove the threat lightning can cause to your property in accordance with the new BS EN 62305:2006 standards.

The new standards replace the BS 6651:1999 standards for 'protection of structures against lightning'. You can also contact us for high maintenance work in Trowbridge and locations across Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Hampshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and across the UK.

General Principles Of BS EN 62305:2006

The BS EN 62305:2006 standards outline the types of damage that can be incurred due to lightning and the need for protection. Risks identified include:
  • Loss of human life
  • Loss of service to the public
  • Loss of cultural heritage
  • Loss of economic value

Lightning Protection Systems (LPS) can reduce the physical damage caused by a lightning strike to a structure. This intercepts the strike and disperses it safely to the earth. Details on LPS installation are listed in BS EN 62305-3.

Step voltage threats can be reduced by means of a meshed conductor earthing arrangement which we can assemble.

Specialist Earthing Systems

In accordance with BS 7430:1998, we offer a full earthing system installation service.

This begins with a site inspection and soil resistivity testing to determine the most suitable earthing system for your particular ground conditions.

Wiltshire Steeplejacks specialise in the following areas:
  • Sub-station earthing
  • Transformer earthing
  • Generator earthing
  • Thermo welding
  • Static earthing
